The Russian satellite operator "Gazkom" has conducted successful tests of the perspective technology DVB-S2 allowing essentially to save a satellite resource by granting of services of translation of a television signal and data transmission, is informed in the press release "Gazkoma".

As it is told in the document, the tests spent with use of companions "Yamals-201" and "Yamal-202", have shown that «high technical characteristics of companions" Газкома "allow to save to 50 % of satellite capacity at gathering and video content distribution».

«Use of companions" Yamals "for testing of new technology is the basic moment if to consider that now they are loaded more than on 90 %. Tests have confirmed possibility more an effective utilization of a satellite resource», – are given in the press release of a word of the general director of Open Society "Газком" Dmitry Sevastyanov.

In press-service "Газкома" have informed that tests of technology DVB-S2 are connected with a problem of deficiency of satellite resources in the Russian and international market that forces satellite operators and services-providers to search for the technologies allowing more effectively to use имеющуиеся capacity.

«Газком» – the Russian satellite operator created and maintaining orbital grouping of companions "Yamals" ("Yamal-100", "Yamal-201" and "Yamal-202") and the developed land infrastructure (three teleports, the centers of digital satellite television, a network of stations of satellite communication in regions of Russia). Camera activity forms 90 % of incomes of the company. In 2009 the company plans to place in operation two new companions "Yamals-300", and in 2011 – companions "Yamals-400". Besides, "Gazkom" carries out a role of the system integrator, projecting and developing satellite communication and television networks both for the main shareholder (Open Society "Gazprom"), and for a wide range of users. В 2009 году компания планирует ввести в эксплуатацию два новых спутника «Ямал-300», а в 2011 году – спутники «Ямал-400». Кроме того, «Газком» выполняет роль системного интегратора, проектируя и развертывая сети спутниковой связи и телевидения как для своего главного акционера (ОАО «Газпром»), так и для широкого круга пользователей.
